What it is

StoryAnchor is a notebook for the facts of your story, and it reads your chapters to see whether they still agree with it. It never changes your book files. You do your own editing. Its notes are only for you.

Entries

Characters, places, things and events, each with facts tied to a book and chapter, and a list of old names.

Chapter checks

Load a chapter file and see where it disagrees with your notes. Lock a fact you never want to change.

Series folders

One story can hold a whole series. Drop in a folder with one folder per book.

Safe backups

Automatic backups when you start and close. Back up with a label, restore any time. Your work is backed up first before a restore.

Several stories

Switch between stories. Each has its own notes and backups, with no mixing.

Outlines and Import

Pro adds outlines and imports your existing notes.

Questions

Does StoryAnchor change my book files?

No. It only reads them. Its notes are kept in their own file. If you edit your chapters, load the fresh files so the checks see your changes.

Where are my notes kept?

On your computer, in Documents\Story Anchor. Nothing goes online.

Windows says "Windows protected your PC".

StoryAnchor is a new program and is not code-signed yet. Click "More info", then "Run anyway".

Lost my key or got a new computer?

Paste the key from your email again. Keys never expire and do not need the internet. If you lose the email, write to me.

Is there a Mac, phone or Android version?

Not yet. StoryAnchor is Windows only.
